Atlantic Orient Canada Inc. (AOCI) is a Canadian company,
based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, that manufactures, markets and installs a 50 kW
wind turbine (the AOC 15/50). This wind turbine is suitable for use in remote
communities in wind diesel hybrid configurations and grid connected to offset
electricity costs for agriculture, commercial and industrial facilities,
municipalities and community centers.
AOCI was formed in 1995 from a partnership between
Seaforth Engineering Group and Atlantic Orient Corporation of Vermont,
U.S. (the original designer of the AOC 15/50). One of the earliest tasks
of AOCI was to transfer the manufacturing of the AOC 15/50 from the U.S.
to Canada. This took several years and involved a comprehensive review
of manufacturing capability in Canada. AOCI now uses manufacturers in
Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to produce the AOC 15/50 wind
turbine.
