Benefits of Geothermal
Geothermal systems reduce your carbon footprint and utility bills at the same time by using free, renewable energy found in your own back yard. Ground-Source Heat Pumps use energy from the earth rather than from your power company, making them a “Green” source of energy. A savings of up to 70% on Heating, Cooling, and Hot Water cost can be achieved with a geothermal system. These systems require very little maintenance and have a service life of about twenty years or greater, unlike the conventional HVAC system. In addition to being economical, these systems provide an extra comfort to the building’s environment by increasing moisture in the air, especially in dry climates like West Texas. Also, new tax credits are available for home and commercial building owners who decide to install a new geothermal, EnergyStar rated, heating and cooling system. A tax credit of 30% of the total installation is offered to homeowners who install a residential ground loop heat pump, and a credit of 10% of the total investment is also available for a commercial system installation. With the new tax credits available, a new geothermal system can be installed comparable to a conventional system, but with little to no maintenance and an endless return on investment.
